Hi Guys,
considering a few mods next year but in order for them to work i will need to soruce parts from around the world as they are not available on the uk models.
so my question is firstly would a subaru UK dealer be able to order in parts for a non EU subaru models?
Also are there any other compaines they may be able to do it for less ?
thirdly anyone brought things from non EU ebay sites? mainly the US/OZ/Jap
are there any import taxes etc that need to be considered when looking at prices etc.
The mods i'm thinking may not happen as i need to see if they are possible (after weeks of searching not found anyone in the UK thats do it yet) and and if it is worth the cost for the gains i would get. all three very suttle mods that to most would go un noticed but to the informed
but would appericate any information as the cost of getting the parts could well be the main reason why no one has done it yet as well as the fact that it could be a bit of hard work to get them to fit and work. not worried about the hard work just the cost really.

that seems steep.
are import taxes not proporitional to the value of the goods?
Must have been an expensive roof scoop.
What do the owners of JDM imports do when a part fails thats not fitted to a UK car??

Customs charges are related to the value of the goods you are importing, in the past i have asked the person sending the stuff to mark down the value so as to avoid paying tax. It doesnt always work.

I have used Gary on the parts counter at Cheam motors to import bits for my JDM Forester, no problems at all. He is used by lots of the JDM Forester owners. If it's a Subaru part then he can supply.
I've also bought from NZ ebay, no problems at all.
Newera have a Jap' parts supply service, very helpful.
Any item that is imported may be liable to import duty, the rate depends on what the item is. There is loads of info on the Inland Revenue and Customs pages and their telephone call center (look in the phone directory) were really helpful when I asked questions.
Good luck
