H,

If you look at the picture it's not an STi so even if they did produce a TT STi, this ain't it, especially not for 13k.

It's probably a case of (like most) the dealer not knowing there stuff, let's face it how many 280bhp 93/94/95 WRX's do you see advertised, loads, all cos dealers who tried to get on the import bandwagan read that the later models had 280bhp and assumed all models had this power, pi55es me off!!

Gents,

This engine does indeed exist. Three issues of Banzai ago, there was an Australian WRX with an EJ20 Twin turbo engine.... As mentioned previously, don't know if this was a factory car or import. Maybe some of the BBS members in the trade can shed some light...

Rang a garage yesterday who advertised a 96 WRX STI with photo. Photo looked NOTHING like an STI so I called to ask if the photo wa correct.

Chap assured me it was. I asked if it was an STI as advertised. Chap assured me it was.

I asked him if he had any documentation stating it was an STI and not a standard WRX. Chap assured me he did. Asked him to dig it out for me and.........

He couldn't find it. He assured me he was almost certain it was an STI. But he said he had no proof. He also conceded that even the badging said WRX rather than the extra STI badging.

Also - orange side repeaters
WRX rear light clusters (as opposed to the STI items)
standard front driving lights
no strut brace
no STI logo on dash
wouldn't give me engine number

I'm not usually so pedantic but I see so many 'K-reg WRX 280bhp' and falsely named STIs from dealers that occasionally I feel the need to expose their false claims.

BTW I've never heard of a factory twin-turbo Impreza either.......

Occasionally I see advertised 'Subaru Impreza Twin-Turbo 280BHP'.

Is this really true, I thought the 280BHP STi were just re-chipped and engine modded. Not Twin-Turbo'd.

I think the dealers name says it all ! They obviously know very little about Imprezas.

Gents...if you look into it, I think you'll find there was a limited number of Twin Turbo Sti's released

no badges or decals stating so...but they do exist (do a few searches and you'll find some details - of course the 280bhp will be the japanese official figure...not sure if what the achievable figure is...

AFAIK, the factory did not produce any twin-turbo Imprezas.

Oh, and the car in the pic does not seem to have the pink 'i' badge, and no gold wheels.
The Oz WRX u talked abt must have an engine transplanted from a Legacy, as Oz spec WRX are just export spec turbos with different badging and FHI never produced any twin-turbo GC Imprezas.

While in Hong Kong over new year, there was a twin turbo Impreza for sale, in one of the car lot's at the old airport, seemed original. Was badged as a 1996 (STi III) V Limited, one from a run of 100 if my memory serves me right.

The twin-turbo in Aussie was definatly a transplant, it was featured in one of their car magazines a year or so ago... it was'nt very successful, they returned it to single turbo as its very difficult to mod a TT legacy.

To be fair to Beechwood cars, they do not claim it is an STi - simply a WRX.

Should be a simple matter to count the number of Turbos in the engine bay

If I can remember correctly it was the one with the R/C car track at the end of it.
