JDM 'Wagons have steel bonnets too, along with pressed steel wishbones.

My V5 Wagon bonnet is definitely Alloy. But wishbones yes - pressed steel for some crazy cost cutting reason?

Isolated cases dont alter the facts though and what I have stated above is correct.

Yes. TBH I thought alloy was standard on all STi classics.

I have a sti V wagon, mine has a steel bonnet.
Had to pay over £200 for a facelift alloy bonnet when I facelifted my old 1994. Some SOB tried to break into the engine bay a couple of months ago and put a dent in it so now I can't even swap it over!
For reference the MY94 jdm wagon I facelifted had an alloy bonnet.

Can and worms comes to mind...
Can we say it was a factory option? I'm taking a semi-educated guess.
STi R/RA + WRX RA - Std
STi 4/5 dr + WRX - Option

Aluminium bonnets were standard on all JDM WRX Saloons. WRX 'Wagons had a steel bonnet. Those are indisputable facts.

Hardly can of worms, unless you are suggesting that you dont know the history of the car before it left japan and that during any repair process the bonnet was replaced with the more commonly available alloy?

My wagon was imported from new, so an alloy replacement seems highly unlikely...
The only way we'll ever solve this is by translating this:
http://www.northursalia.com/download/sti5/30.jpg
And thats only the V5...

Sadly I've found most to be inaccurate - these scans are 100% bang on, just in the wrong language!
If steel is standard, I guess I got lucky
