Default STI JDM vs STI JDM PRODRIVE

Hello there.

Ive been having a look on some Japenese car auctions looking for a blob-eye JDM and found you can get them with the PPP.

Is a JDM with a PPP got more bhp and performance than a standard JDM.

Cheers Andy

JDM's dont have a PPP, they push over 300bhp out of the factory, a prodrive version was a limited edition with a body kit etc.

There are some blob-eyes on there classed as a 2003 sti V-Limited.

Its looks like a normal sti of that age but has the spec c roof vent and a badge on the back and only 500 were ever built.

Ive seen quite a few of these on this site all of the same age.

Is that all thats special about them, they have a roof vent?

Hi Andy,

A JDM is a totally different car to a Type UK or European Impreza. They are 80% different, engine wise, they drive completely differently and have much better driving characteristics to their UK counterpart.

An STi V-Limited is a JDM car, with a few extras on it like a roof vent and Subaru World Rally Team branding. If you do a search on here, you will find all the differences between the JDM and UK car, but ultimately you need to really drive both type's of car yourself to see how hugely different they are to each other. A JDM car has the following which a UK car does not have:

Twin scroll turbo (very effective)
Equal length exhaust manifolds
Red line at 8000 revs (7200 on UK cars)
Different, better camshaft profiles and pistons
Stronger crankshaft
Reverse alarm
Orange illuminated dash with 6 variable brightness settings
Rear driving lights are the circles, which are the brake lights on UK cars
STi quick steering rack
Xenon headlights
Automatic intercooler water spray as well as manual
DCCD on earlier models as well as newer ones
