Default how much for a type r diff??

went to see a type r today and really like it but there is a loud whinning noise sounds like a wheel bearin.
But when i turned right into a road slowly it felt like the rear wheel (driver's side) didnt want to and was judderin (if that make's any sense?)
i am asuming that it might be the diff (correct me if im wrong)
so was wondering how much would it cost to replace if it was this?
if you think it is something else then let me know as im not that good in this field lol.
please help ASAP
Cheers Ben

the diff light was not on but it was a whinnig noise whilst going straight and only juddered when turnin right.
it was fine going left but the bloke said if i took it away now i could have it cheeper, but there was other things that needed doing like discs and pads all round etc but he knew nothin about cars what so ever so dont think he knows whats wrong with it(ie not tryin to rip me off lol)
just not sure whether its worth buying and getting the diff done myself,if that is whats wrong with it
HELP!!!

Alarms bells would ring instantly if the diff light wasnt on its ALWAYS on and no light might indicate a knackered diff.I'd walk and find another one loads about (including mine ) if the diff light doesnt work clearly the DCCD doesnt either

Thats a rough estimate, they were usually pushing out a bit more than the quoted figure when they left the factory and remember it's a classic so should be a bit more lively and responsive.

As above thats just the quoted figure on the car its probably a bit more and is very lively even compared to my Spec C
