Do you think 24000 quid is asking a bit much for this car i know it has only 15000 miles on it and looks stunning and all but 24 grand

Seems a bit steep to me: maybe worth 21K rather than 24K. It's also been slightly modded that will put off some purists: I think those are the wrong alloys (they don't look like the bespoke BBS ones on my car), detangoed front indicators (not rear), Brembo brakes, massive tail-pipe and a boost controller. I'm surprised he shows 5 photos of the right side of the car, but not one of the left or engine bay!
Anyway it'll hold its value better than a new Passat!

Lights are easy enough to change out tho and these could have been changed to get around putting a foglight in the bumper..... (as some have done)
The Type UK has huge foglights in the front bumper in leiu of the covers and also has a different rear badge to this one.
In my opinion 22B values are linked with their "original condition" if you know what I mean?
I'd rather have one which is in original, as the factory supplied it, condition on 50K than a fiddled one with 15K. As long at they are well looked after obviously......
Pillar gauges, daft exhaust, wrong wheels etc.....no thanks
Although the brembo's are an upgrade I prefer the red poking out from behind the wheels :-D

The worth of the car will be whatever it sells for. These cars do take a long time to sell, my UK one took about 2 months to sell, that's not dropping the price. They differ from other Imprezas as they're quite sought after due to their limited numbers and unique build.
On a general note, is this car or the majority of other 22bs worth £24k? Not to me they aren't. They're very overpriced cars for what they are. Performance wise, to the average driver, they're no quicker than an sti worth £5k, which is why ultimately I sold mine. Give me a nice TypeR and £17k in the bank any day.

You may as well blow the whole lot on a desirable low volume car that won't depreciate and may even go up in value in a year or two, rather than have £17k festering in a bank account. It doesn't have to be a 22B if you've already been down that route. How about a Lotus Carlton, RS500, E30 M3 Evo 2, mint Evo 2 Integrale or maybe even stretch it to a Merc 190E 2.5-16 EVO 2? Much more fun that looking at your bank statement each month!

Not when the rebuild for a 22b can be a good few grand. Maybe not festering in a bank account, but maybe used for something more worthwhile. If I was to have an old classic car, it'd have to be a 3 door cosworth for around £8k.
You can get a low volume Impreza that won't depreciate further other than a 22b. If I do get another Impreza it will be a sonic typeR5/6 or a V-Ltd sti5/6.
It irked me somewhat that the 22b didn't do anything I couldn't do in my previous typeR. All the extra £17 odd grand in the car gave me was bulging wings and a feeling of exclusivity.
It's all relative though regarding a cars value. They are obviously worth their price as they do sell for these amounts. My opinions on worth are IMHOs.

Tend to agree (each to their own though) albeit you can see why they hold their value - £50k car when new, the only authorised rally car rep, limited build numbers with actual cars on the road reducing all the time (crashed etc).

Yes, I do agree why they hold their value. My old 22b was a Uk version and new was 'only' £39,950 IIRC (still had the original bill of sale). Not begrudging anyone for running a 22b, or certainly don't want to come across as sour grapes! The 22b was a very, very nice car, I'd have one again tomorrow but I wouldn't pay the premium for one though.
In my circumstances only, I felt like I wasn't getting VFM so changed the car after 6 months for what I paid for it. I went to a Lotus Elise which certainly opened my eyes.

It'll be a 'fresh import' more than likely if it has no owners. I went to see a 'fresh import' once, no history at all, the only extras they had was a V5 and 1 key. I'd be a bit concerned at buying it without history to back the mileage. It looks more like a car worth 18k without a FULL history. To put things into perspective, I sold my UK version with a very, very detailed folder including tax discs for 24k.

Dose that meen Im going to looze money on mine but I wouldnt drive one every day, when your a kid you always wanted a good Rally car well thats why I have mine, but I would swap tomorow if you brought me a good RS1800

I had that problem as well - swapped my first impreza turbo (N reg - white with big fogs - loved it) for a then nearly new (P reg) Elise - looked stunning (silver, blue leather) but what a sh1theap! slow, leaked, roof nasty, seats uncomfortable (numb 4rse every 60 miles), gearbox crunched, noisy as **** (couldn't hear the radio above about 50 mph), had to have the windows replaced after they fell inside the doors and cracked etc etc - dreadful dreadful car. Great on the track (but still slow), pants on the road. Really bugs me that motors like that are only ever tested on the track. Ho hum.
Soon got rid of that

LOL Gordo, they're simple cars for sure. I managed to get a lateish S1 (99) in Azure with all the upgrades. The car never missed a beat in the 5 months I had it and I actually made £500 quid on it. Not bad for an everyday car that returned 49 mpg on NUL. It's the only car I actually miss.
bluscoob, I don't know how much you paid for your car(s) but I can't see residuals slipping for 22bs, even mucked about ones. There's just too much demand for them, and that can only increase over time. You might get a septuagenarian James Martin offering you silly money to buy it for some rally in the future. Just make sure it don't need a rebuild when you sell it to him

TBH its not the sort of car someones going to buy because they just want a fast Impreza ( plenty of sorted STi's etc... out there for a quarter of the money ) - its the sort of thing you buy if you collect cars and want one as part of your collection, much like the people who buy RS200's, mint Cossies, original GT40's, Integrales etc... they arent being bought to use as a main car, or even a second or third car.
Probably is a bit overpriced, but I imagine the seller will be happy to hang onto it until the right buyer comes along.
