The love child of a scoob and a saab:
Marketed to the US market, as everybody else would just go and by an actual subaru.

If you could buy here then Id be interested. Everything that I like about a turbocharged Impreza 'Wagon, but with extra stealth, a SAAB front and no association with the charvered-up cars and their scruffer drivers, that have rubbished the marque.....

The Saab has different wheels and detailing and some better interior parts (much sought after by the WRX boys), and yes was a newage blobeye facelifted to look like a Saab, underneath its identical except for the suspension which was retuned (and considered better than stock WRX) to suite Saab 'marque values'.
They also sold the Forester in some markets badged as a Chevrolet while GM part owned Subaru with FHI.

AFAIK the hatchback Impreza was designed while GM owned SAAB. The fact of the 92 suggests that these two manufacturers were brought together under GM which would explain the SAAB look to the front of the hatchback Impreza.

Very old news. GM owns Saab Automobile AB and used to own owned 20.1% of Subaru (since 1999) but in 2005 sold it's shares on the open market to sever all ties with FHI (Mainly to Toyota).
During the brief General Motors period a "badge engineered" Impreza was sold in the United States as the Saab 9-2X. Saab 9-2X - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think it could have been quite successful if it had been sold in the UK and have personally always liked the styling of Saab's just not the handling etc.

Yup old news. They stopped making the 9-2x a while back now (sold only in the US IIRC).
Won't ever happen again as GM no longer play any part in Subaru...lets see what love child Toyota will bring upon us instead
I quite liked the 9-2x....its an Impreza without the "image"
Sometimes thats a good thing
