P1 vs Evo6
Ah memories, I remember watching this when I'd just passed my test...

It would depend on what you wanted from a car...
Obviously this is a subaru forum so the fanboys will all automatically say P1.
Looks, about the same really, maybe the evo looks more agressive
Performance, Evo pips it, both 280ish bhp but the evo as standard will take a bigger power hike.
Electricals, well the AYC is a moot point regards longevity however you have to agree the Evo is an easier car to drive very quickly.
Price, no contest, with P1s down to £6k you could get 2 for the cost of a fairly clean E6.5 Mak.
Tuning, P1 gets it, so many more scoobs and so the tuning is easier and the availabilityof parts is ten times more.
One thing though, a lot more Scoob owners do their own mechanical work, most Evo fanboys put their cars in the shop for work.
If I were starting again, I'd have to look at an early Evo, say a E3 as a track car basis rather than my 96RA.
If I had to choose an E6 or a P1 then it would have to be the E6 no question, sorry.

Banny, my best mate has a gorgeous E6.
The hardest thing for me to get my head round was that you let the car drive you through the corners, even when it feels like its going to go horribly wrong just trust the diff to pull you through. NEVER try to correct it yourself
When you get used to that, the E6 will be a doddle to drive imo, however it was odd at first

What swings it for me every time is servicing, I have a local Subaru specialist that does all my work and saves me £hundreds a year. I could not justify the costs of running an evo against a Subaru.

yeah the 4.5k mile AYC servicing is shocking, coupled with the fact that its only a matter of time before it goes kaput and costs c. £2k to replace
still, a lot of people junk the AYC and fit RS diffs, much better and increase the service interval to something sensible.
Mind you, the 40L tank is a bit of a killer too!
