Default Warning - Watch out for user RB#5183

Hi All,

I would like to warn everybody about user RB#5183 (Dave)
I purchased from him ECU, but I should say, was trying to buy...
We talked a little bit on PM's and I paid him by paypal 130quids for ECU, he was selling. It was 9th of december. I was waiting for parcel for 3 weeks, i thought that maybe post is delayng delivery... but unfortunalety not.
Right now RB#5183 is not responding PM's and emails through paypal.

So I just wanted to warn everybody, hope it was only me who was cheated....

If this post is in wrong subforum, please move it to better one.

Cheers All

Trust system needed.

Or access to For Sale section after X number of posts - least then if your an established SNetter your more likely not to fleece someone.

as an idea, if ppl want to buy goods via this web-site, maybe the sale should go thru scoobynet and they charge a 10% (or whatever) handling fee. Once scooby net receives both the goods and the cash, then he or she posts them out to the buyer and seller

Due to the previous admins complete disinterest: SN now has a reputation as a forum where you can rip people off. IB needs to implement iTrader, or another similar tool, if theyre going to prevent the board from becoming a laughing stock.

I fear it's too late.... you'd be an idiot to buy anything off people on here, well off someone with less than 5,000 posts and a history of good sales.

You paid via paypal, just put in a dispute, claim the money back as item not received and esculate the claim stright away.
You will get your money back.
1, If he does not respond to paypals email.
2, If he can not provide proof of posting, and he will have to send proof via fax to paypal.

However as PayPal and Ebay are the biggest bunch of monopolising disinterested barstwerds ever you won't get your money back if:

1. He hasn't got any. They'll award in your favour but if he's cleared out the account, basically you are stuck unless you actually used PayPal to pay with your credit card in which case you are covered because credit card companies do provide this level of insurance. Never buy anything over the web without using a credit card personally.

Good luck dude.

5t.

I disagree. Just do your homework well first - check the users recent posts. If they have sold something before, pm the person who bought it and ask them how the transaction was handled. I've sold and bought through these forums many times without problems so far, but I am always careful unless it is a user I know well.

I feel tarnished now

People would just wait for 5000 posts do a few transactions then do the rip off I doubt it will ever be irradicated totally.

I've bought several items from members on this board and haven't had a problem. I've sold a few bits too. Ditto....

Would agree a system is required to safeguard sales activity though as the number of 'ripped off' posts are increasing. If you read Stu's 'mission statement' thread you'll see this is in hand. IB run some huge forums, and their purchase of Scoobynet means we'll get the benefit of their experience.

Obviously doesn't help the OP unfortunately..

I'd have to dis-agree with that one mate

As I have no-where near five thousand posts would that mean you'd be apprehensive towards buying something from me??

I'd like to think I'm known on here or well enough known around the board for someone to trust or not, and to disregard the number of posts I have

I've bought and sold loads of things on here no problems whatsoever But most of them are of people who's names turn up alot and are known if that makes sense

Same here m8

If I'm sending money, it will be postal order sent 1st class recorded or special so I have proof, same if I'm sending an item I have sold aswell.

Money paid into banks is good as it's straight away and you get a receipt aswell.

You still got the xbox connor? U on XBL?

Folks - as per Scoobynet policy I have to lock this thread:

From here: ScoobyNet - Announcements in Forum : Market Place

"Scoobynet will not allow "Name & Shame" content within the forums and any such material will be removed. All issues need to be resolved out side of Scoobynet. "

I will not delete the thread, so that you can read my warning, please do not post name and shame threads like this in future. There are plans to introduce checks for sellers, we can only ask that you be patient.
