Cheap P1
It seems cheap with the recent engine rebuild.
Anyone know the car?

Lets be honest you cant tell if an osf wing and door are different colours to the rest of the car without seeing it in the flesh and maybee the seller is being realistic and wants to sell the car, and not keep hold of it forever, which is why it is priced as it is, nice looking car though.

Could be a good deal. The OS door doesn't sit right either.
Is it not missing the door mouldings?
Regardless, I'd take a punt on it if the engine was sweet. A bit of paint and bodywork later you'd have a very clean car.

Yeah what a tool! The car was priced to condition having seen it, not a bargain really cos things need doing, as some of you may have guessed. Bonnet needs spraying, driver's side rear quarter needs spraying, new splitter needed, and general tidy up and valet. Will look nice with £1500-£2000 chucked at it.

Can you explain please bud? Sell all the paperwork to use on another? This sounds bad! I feel sorry for the lad, he knew it wouldn't be perfect at this price but...
Maybe a bit late now he's bought it but hpi check needed, there's a simple version by txt for £3, I'll do that. Hopefully he checked the VIN on the engine matches the reg documents! Hope it works out, and if the engine's playing up I'll do my best to help the lad! He's never had a scoob, I've had a couple. I reckon I'll give it a drive on the weekend and see what's what (in my limited knowledge). Oh dear....

Matt, the paperwork for sale on p1woc is for build no 726 which is currently listed on ebay, shame the guy didn't try to reunite it with the car.

This is the link to the ebay ad for build no 747 which sold for £5k a week ago before your mate bought it, looks like the dealers made a quick profit on it. Your mate might want to check the car VERY carefully!!!

I'm surprised the guy selling the history seperate to the above car hasn't been kicked off the forum. Shocked anyone would have the ***** to even offer it for sale.

This is turning out to be a nightmare! Yeah I've told him to ring the subaru dealer where it says it got the rebuild and check with them. I reckon there's a good chance the paperwork's faked, looking at the engine bay and the problems it has. He's a mate of a mate really, I'd have gone with him if he was a close mate. But as the ebay advert is still active (and a print-out of it has been made), and that clearly says head gasket needs doing and oil leaking somewhere, and the guy who's bought it from that ebay ad, and sold it to my workmate, under a pistonheads ad, saying it's a great car and nothing is wrong with it, could my mate go to the small claims court? The guy was a 'trader' too. Surely there are laws against dis-honesty in the trade? There were no sold as seen reciepts either (even though I hear they're not worth much anymore anyway).

I'd tell the owner to get in contact with the seller and find out if the problems (which there clearly are) have been rectified by the seller... If not he's made a tidy £1750 profit..!!!! Surely he would have got some warrenty with it if he bought it from a 'trader'..??

Even though the guy it was bought from was a trader was it bought as if from a dealer - if you get what I mean?
In that if from a dealer do you not have some sort of come back. If its private sale then its tough luck?

I bought the wife a car from a dealership, but it was the salesmonkeys own car so bought as a private sale.
I hate to be harsh but Lordy, shouldn't he have done some research before punting out so much money instead of hoping for some caveat to get out of any problems?
