Default uk?wrx?sti?

stiil looking for my first scooby.cant make my mind up between a uk model or an import?i have a budget of around £2,500 what could i get for my money and what is a red top engine?thanks

Red top engine is on STIs only (v3 onwards i think) the inlet manifold has is painted red.
As for the UK vs Import debate i would personally just find a nice one no matter where it comes from, and one that hasn't been modified (maybe just suspension and exhaust)

I quite agree.

Also the insurance premium on an import could be almost double over UK car [it was for me]. Be aware that alot of imports have had engine rebuilds that was caused due to owners putting in incorrect fuel and service/history can be in japanese [ok if you are fluent]
OP Just keep reading up and doing your own research to assist in your decision.

Imports are better performers but UK is a safer bet and can be modded. imo
