Help - To Buy or Not to Buy
Hi Guys,
I have owned my version 3/4 type r for about 4 years now and want a change. However my situation is i have been offered a immaculate skyline r33 GTR running 400bhp for 7k which is a absoloute steal or do i buy a 55 plate astra vxr which has stage 2 mods and is very clean.
Part of me wants the skyline but part of me also wants the newer car which is a bit more sensible.
I need help deciding is the Gtr just to old now??

i wouldn't be keen on either option really, it makes life easier when offered a swap but should go and have a look about and try some stuff, see what comes up on pistonheads locally when you enter p/x........?????

id be interested in that. only just got into skyline's. how much would a r33 like the above generally go for. I put r34 in ebay - i know not the best place to look but wanted to do a quick search - and they came up at between 45 and 70 grand! and that was definately r34?!?!!? why is that r34 are not the newest are they? there seems t be lots of differnt versions what are the best for under approx 12 grand?

If you've had the R for a while and want a change I would go for the 33 every time - especially if its the one in the pic. More pics please!!!
At least you can say you owned a GTR which most petrol heads would like to say and at least if in a couple of years you don't like it you can sell it and get another scoob.
Personally, I'd shoot you in the foot for choosing the Astra.

I'd keep the Scooby personally, not a big fan of the R33, if I had a skyline it would have to be an R34 GTR, but as you have found prices are stupid.
I think Skyline maintanence costs will make your Scooby seem cheap too

1200bhp
Takes a brave man with deep pockets to run that, sweet car though

Another vote for R33 - Althought I like the styling of the R32...

Yeah that is the car in the pics. it really is a immaculate car i am just concerned that i am just spending money on a car that is geting quite old now.
Insurance is cheaper on this than my type r
Fuel will be better as type r has short box and revs like mad
saves me spending cash on type r to sort things that need doing
i am trying to convince myself

Is the GTR from the same place that has the very nice V5/6 Type R?
It was posted on here recently as someone was thinking of buying. It looked very nice.
