Default Power increase without breaking the bank?

Was thinking about tweaking a little more power out of my MY00 impreza, but did not want to go to the expense of spending hundreds of pounds on new turbo and so on. I know that this means I will not be able to reach 300+bhp, but was hoping to get somewhere around 260+bhp.

Firstly, will I get much more from having the car remapped and also, is there any gain to be made from induction kits? At the moment, my car is pretty standard. I suppose I am looking for the most gain for the fewest pounds.

Thanks

hey mate, first mod to do would be decat (full) or sports cat if you didnt want it too loud, then full exhaust system, panel filter and remap, there is your 260hp, mine has the same as this but has a dump valve and hasnt had a remap due to mine requiring a new ecu and your not. Mine is running 250hp with that and as said no remap. plus you have the added bonus of already running 440cc injectors while mine are 380cc.

O and this defo wont break the bank with it coming in i reckon under 1k

Best first mods for a UK classic Decat/sports cat exhaust, panel filter and remap. Will get you around 270-280 bhp and similar torque

No such thing as cheap power though, well, not cheap reliable power.

I guess your looking at around £700-£800 for the bits needed, including remap.

Full decat would cost anywhere between £200 - £700. Panel filter £50, air filter around £100, and a remap which is normally around £600 mark

bit over optimistic that bud, expect around 260, anything over is a bonus (although as said not unheard of)

I was

A) in a good mood

and

b) going by Bob's standard of mapping

You're right though, best to err on the side of pessimism and expect 260 and be plesantly surprised with any more!

On the cheap:

AE800 ECU (if you have the AE802). (£75-100)
De-cat (£200)
Dawes (£30)
Panel Filter (£50)
Samco I/C pipe (?)

Then have a RR run to check AFR, knock and power (£50)

Will bring up the power v nicely.
