When i got mine, i knew i was going to tune it up a bit, so for me the most important things to do first was the brakes, pump, parallel rails, inlet insulators, Api oil pump, etc, all the safety mods. Followed by suspension and decent tyres. No point having 300+bhp and embarrassing yourself in the twisties

Well leave it alone then and only replace the bits as you need.
i've had my 93wrx for 6 years odd now and haven't replaced the fuel pump (it's had a few rolling road sessions and is fine).
Buying a fuel pump won't on it's own won't save the engine proper maintenance will make sure it lasts.

enjoy the car as is for the time being spending money on mods when you have only bought the car then finding out that it needs other stuff done ie wear and tear parts and you have no money left to fix it i myself will get the main stuff done and run the car for a few months to see how it goes before any mods will be considered as has happened to me before you just get one thing done and it needs something else doing for example had full timing belt kit plus hyd tensioner and oil change then my mechanic mentioned it needed front arm bushes, drop links, and now 2 front tyres as the tracking was off the scale this is just my opinion as its not my money but dont be too quick to mod the car until you really get to know it.
