hi there guys, how are you lot doing? i have a little misunderstanding on intercoolers. what difference does a FM make in temperatures compared to a TM. would it be preferable to run a FM on high boost, or the TM would be good enough?

could someone compare & contrast for me thanks x x

But, to answer your questions a TM can be good to 400bhp depending on design - late STI's are okay for this. There is a possible problem with heat soak though if stood in traffic for a long time. Front mounts WILL cause more lag due to the extra pipework.

 

Top mount.......front mount. Which is best? There's only one way to find out.

if you dont know what they do or why they differ, then you probably dont need to worry about it....

 

not really worried about lag. more considered about cooling. to answer you question dazza i was sent a very apologetic PM so i decided to stay

 

makes me larf when people say good for then quote figures around 400bhp. you can get 600bhp on a top mount, for about 5 mins then heat builds and you start wondering y a car with less power spanks you.

hot days your gonna get mega high inlet temps on a top mount, no mater what model. front mounts bring down temps even at 300bhp, lag is a myth when the car is mapped correctly.
