Question How do I get this noise?

YouTube - STi LAB Production Video
Awesome sound (I'm not talking about the music btw) Don't know why they would drown out such a lovely original soundtrack coming from the cars)
I have a 2002 STI Prodrive. I'm only 22 and my last car was an st170 (lovely car, full leather etc.. but lacking in power). Needless to say I am loving the Impreza. What modifications are required to get it to make the same noise as the first car, the one 1 minute in, last one through the tunnel and 3 minutes thirty in. My car is off the road for at least six months so I may as well spend the money I save on the running costs (or at least that how I justify it to my girlfriend). Any help would be appreciated.

I've been thinking of getting a nur spec r. How is it to live with day to day, any annoyed neighbours?
Also how much would getting equal length headers set me back and is it worth it?

The more info tag on the video says:

- Black STi Blitz Nur spec exhaust
- Blue STi Fujitsubo exhaust
- Blue STi Spec-C Fujitsubo exhaust
- Blue STi ings body kit HKS Silent exhaust

And the one at 3:30 looks like the one with the body kit - so could be the HKS silent exhaust.

I have a number of times. But I actually like the stainless steel too. They've been in there for nearly a year and I still haven't decided.

I have only seen it done on a hawkeye and it looked a million times better, the thread is on SN somewhere it was posted recently I just don't have time to look for it just now but if I do find it I will send you the link.

I have had a think about it and am thinking of getting the following mods:
  • AP 6 Pots
  • Blitz Nur Spec R or Apexi N1 Titanium Exhaust
  • Remap (goes without saying)
  • Blitz FMIC
And a couple of interior mods:
  • STI Carbon Fibre door sills
  • Blue interior carpet, like the ones in blobeyes and hawkeyes (not to sure about this one as they can be expensive unless you buy second hand and I also quite like the grey)
  • Prodrive Sparco bucket seats

Any thoughts on selected mods would be helpful.
It's quite some list so I am going to start selling more stuff on ebay, I've already sold my Technics 1210's and it looks like my collection of vinyl is also going to go.

^^^ Theres no need for a FMIC unless u get a bigger turbo, save ur $, TMIC is just fine for the stock turbo. U should get headers and an up pipe instead IMO everything else sounds good.

Thanks for the advice. What bhp can you run safely on the TMIC, also can you recommend any up pipes or headers?

JDM STIs (including the one I used to own) come with equal length headers

STI's I assume due to having a twinscroll turbo (UK, USDM), have unequal and hence a scooby burble

I can hardly hear the cars over that pathetic song which is strange considering the vid is mainly aimed and the sounds of the exhaust notes!!

blitz are ok for short distance but can realy get to much without the bung in. my car is used every day with the bung in and it comes out for the week end.
I also have the fighter jet sound with the bung in, it sounds awsome but totaly different bung in and out, i like the both sounds,

I have checked today and my sti defo does not have equal leanght headers they are still standard.
probably running 350 ish bhp.

LOL the car has a electronically controled cuttout at the bottem of the downpipe off the turbo, the driver can open and shut this at will via switches inside the vehicle, this adds HP and makes the thing sound like a suped up V8 or a boat. Sounds sick IMO of corse. Sounds like a bag of spanners......LOL u guys are funny!! Am I the only I who thinks that sounds sick??

I cant really recommend any headers or up pipes as ours here in the states are diff I think but this is the website I use Subaru Impreza WRX Performance Parts, Subaru STi Performance Parts, Subaru Legacy GT Performance Parts, Subaru Impreza RS Performance Parts, Subaru Forester XT Performance Parts

heres what we have for headers: Subaru STi AVO WRX Header, Subaru STi Borla EJ-20/EJ-25 Header, Subaru STi DC Sports Header, Subaru STi GT Spec Header and Up-Pipe Combo, Subaru STi Invidia Header, Subaru STi JIC WRX/STI Header, Subaru STi Perrin Equal Length Header, Subaru STi APS

and for up pipes: Subaru STi APS Up Pipe, Subaru STi DC Sports Up-Pipe, Subaru STi Helix Up Pipe, Subaru STi HKS WRX Uppipe, Subaru STi Invidia Up Pipe, Subaru STi Perrin Up Pipe, Subaru STi Turbo XS External Wastegate Up-Pipe, Subaru STi TurboXS Up Pipe, Subaru STi G.

Now for the TMIC, I remember reading somewhere on the website im usually on which is www.iwsti.com it would take me too long to search for it but there is a great search function towards the top which will greatly assist you. All the info you could dream of is on this site so search search search and you shall gain the knowledge!! Have fun and feel free to ask any other questions you have The guys on there are very knowledgable and friendly, here as well, but asking around there will help too!! James
