Spec c
Anyone tell me what these have over the standard STI?
I like the sound of this twin scroll thingy.
In the market for a new car and looking at either a spec c 2003/2004 or a evo 8 fq360

evo is the weapon if you can handle the 4500 mile services if not go for the spec c as they are an awsome raw car real drivers car
servicing i asume on spec c will be every 10k
but then again moast folk would do oil changes evry 4-5k miles in a scoob like that anyway. hth Greig

The Spec C is a better all round car over the evo (no matter what the evo fans say), it has a more aggressive engine over the standard STI, an oil cooler mounted at the front of the engine, transmission oil coolers, different cooling system, different suspension parts, 12ltr intercooler water tank in the boot, thinner glass, no central locking, different geometry etc (there is a lot of differences).
Servicing is the same as the classic JDM cars, 6 months/7.5k miles (10k km)

Would like an 07 but ive not got a spare £18k siting about
Tony.
Do all jdm sti have the twin scroll turbo?
Only reason im considering an evo is because of the handling (i feel like a driving god in that car)
Although after years driving a M3 anything is better round the corners

I have a capable Evo but got to admit id switch it for a spec c no problem, but then again something like a 9gt or 5, 6, or 7rs are equally as good in terms of Evo's.
The Spec C will be a raw hardcore car, made for track/sprint so it doesn't have all the comforts you might want for everyday use (not saying it cannot be driven everyday btw)

Agree to a certain extent but most who say this have never driven an Evo, the AYC isn't all its cracked up to be, if I could afford to plonk an RS diff on mine, I would, without shadow of a doubt.
The AYC doesn't take into account the drivers natural instinct to correct if the back end goes, which leads to a potential dangerous situation at times...the AYC takes some time and patience to learn how to use properly.

Dave, i agree, thats what I mean by the gAYC ...it takes the fun away from driving until you can predict what it will do, RS diff on its way soon.
Not much in Scoobs and Evo's anyway.

I agree, seems like a top bloke. It's the first time I've bought a car and felt guilty driving off, even though I'd just handed over a huge wadge of bank notes!!

Thanxs for the replies.
I think i will go down the standard import sti route.
The spec c sound like a lot of fun but i dont know if i could live with it on a daily basis.
After all i will be using the car as my daily driver and putting quite a few motorway miles on it.
As for fuel consumption, i once had a mondeo that only got 25 miles to the gallon so 20-25 in a sti sounds fine

Jimmy,
No mate they weren,t, but i still stand by what i,ve said....
8 MR RS is a stupendous car though........
5 6 and 7 RS`s are very raw Jimmy, almost twitchy, they,re like an RA CLassic imo..
