Default Another 3 dead

BBC NEWS | Wales | North West Wales | Crash victim, 18, 'was pregnant'

How can three kids die in a car crash on a 30 mph road?

Yes, its a very naive question I know, but what an utter, utter waste.

One of the girls was pregnant so that's 4 lives lost.

I note the car was a Citroen C2 and I recall there have been other multiple death accidents in Citroens. I love speed but hopefully use it in the right place at the right time - as I would hope do all Scoobynetters! So just think for a moment before you put your foot down today.

The other girl was a triplet and her two remaining sisters composed this:

"We will always be three,
And as three we go on.
In our hearts and our minds
Forever we will be one".

Given the ages and the road being a 30, its easy to conjure up what might have happened and point a finger - doesn't bring them back though.

I know thats north wales but here in west, the road fatalities seem to be quite high.

A relative of mine was killed at the age of 17 in a 30mph limit - thrown out through the rear window and hit a wall. The driver was doing about 60mph and lost it on a corner. Like it says on the TV ads, 'Its 30 for a reason'.
Trouble is that most of these kids (i.e. that's anyone under about 25 to me) lack the judgement and experience to drive safely at speed. Makes you understand why insurance for young drivers is so expensive.

2 local lads aged 18 and 19 were killed just down the road from me a couple of weeks ago, they hit a tree head on just after a couple of bends. Complete waste of young lives.

No age to die

We'll have to wait and see what the accident investigators etc say before jumping to conclusions, but I do agree it's strange that 30mph should result in fatalities in a modern car if the occupants are wearing seat belts.

Shouldn't happen at all assuming the vehicle is obeying the limits. Look at all the slow down adverts. Actually hitting a child at 30mph instead of 40mph gives them a good chance of survival so it shouldn't be an issue to stay alive if you are actually inside the car.

More traffic cops has to be the answer. Cameras don't do it.

5t.

I think it is about time we started putting REAL ads on the TV (such as those posted on here a while ago). Stop this *****-footing about and show peple the reality of their actions.

The link / thread was 'hard hitting video.'

I am no spring chicken but it really made me sit up and take note.

The new motorcycle ads seem to be getting closer to what is needed, but I don't believe it needs to aimed at just 'youngsters'.

I know plenty of 'middle aged' people who think that as they've been on the road for years they've got loads of experience - not always the case! Several of them are appaling drivers, but think they are Lewis Hamilton.

As for the lives that have again been needlessly lost, my heart & prayers go out to the faomilies involved. x
