Default Evo to Scooby ownership

Evenin all, I'm currently driving an Evo VI (don't shoot me down, I don't follow all that Evo V's Scooby bo***ks). Are there any ex Evo owners on here that now drive Scoobies? I'm thinking about going for a Spec C next. I'm not on here to cause trouble, just looking for a bit of info on the right Scooby to look for. Hope you lot are more friendlier than the MLR lot.
Steve

I havn't owned an EVO before mate but the 2 i've driven...a 260 and an FQ 360 modded to 400...........i HATED

Apart from the pin sharp steering and the handling advantage they both felt very highly strung and not at all relaxing to drive..when i got back into my MY96 WRX for the trip home i happy again.

In short EVO's IMO are for the track or a hardcore roadcar..Scooby's are a lot softer and relaxing to drive but can still hold there own on normal roads.

Alan, its great down here but the money is p**s poor. I earn down here what I was earning working in Liverpool 14 years ago but I wouldn't move back. When you see the women walking through Penzance in the summer, it makes it all worth while . I'll take your advice and have a few test drives.

Hey Moley..

Well PZEvo, i,ve been lucky enough to have owned 4 Evos a 22B, a Spec C to name but a few.

The Evos range from a Tommi Mak to my last Evo 8 MR which i fully forged on an FP Green turbo running 470bhp/ 450ft/lb.

Right,

Evos imo are awesome cars, the handling, BUILD quality tunability etc is second to none, HOWEVER i found that after a while they lacked something for me, maybe character i don,t know, even running near on 500 bhp, plus the servicing intervals i found a ball-ache.

Right,

A friend said when i sold the MR, have you tried a Spec C, i said no, luckily enough there was a 06 Hawkeye for sale near me so i went and test drove it...AND to my suprise i couldn,t believe the car was standard.. i,ve never felt, been in a car with such pin-point out of the box handling in my life, performance was fantastic, the whole package is sublime really, i only sold tbh because like most of my cars they sit in the garage for weeks on end.. and it was 18k of car doing nothing.

All i can say is, go and test drive one and i think you,ll never go with an Evo again.....

LOL, my pal Simo (2.3 EV*) drove mine in the wet on Tuesday night, and sounded surprised when he said it felt quick.

I also showed these young' uns why three HID kits are better than none.

dunx

P.S. imho, an EVO does much to flatter the driver, a Scoob flatters only a poor driver (me !) but comes alive in the hands of the talented.

Ive driven an Evo 9 with a funny clutch and hated the experience, stepping back into the P1 was heaven.

Very similar stories to mine here. I had an EVO VI before 'downgrading' to my MY04 WRX.

The EVO was fantastic, hard as nails, devastatingly capable. But it got to a stage where I felt I was throwing money out the window, just to potter around. The service schedule and super unleaded cost made me sell. I thought I would miss the organised chaos it dished out, but blasting the chirpy, burbling Impreza around has not made me look back.

Good look finding a Spec C...Make sure to destroy The Ring.
