Default For Sale Section

Is it just me or is nearly every advert getting put up there these days without a price 'Open to offers' ......if you want offers, put it on an auction site.

Perhaps its time the policy changes to 'no price listed = no ad'?

Rant over

agreed +3, when advertising something you obviously have a price what you want so instead of offers why not put that price up that you want.

Agreed + 5!!! I think with the downturn in the market people just dont know what sort of price to put up, you dont want it too high to scare people off or too low to get ripped off.

But I definately think a guide price at least should be established

Spot on Sandy- that has been slightly p***ing me off aswell......

I know it's a difficult market to judge right now but surely folk have a price in mind of what they want to let go of the car when they are putting it up for sale.

Some other forums run that policy.... no price- no ad. Think it would make sense to do the same on here....

I believe you're right, but doesn't seem to be applied though in many cases.
Guys selling stuff should post a price. Anybody wanting to make an offer will surely do so.

Yes it should be in the T & C's as mentioned, but if its not enforced, what can you do?
Excessive bumping also gets on my nerves. People bumping a 20 quid item, or something no one really wants, two to three times a day!

several other forums have a moderation before posing thing going.

A lot of work for moderators, but they make sure everything has a price / details of where the item is located and contact details.

If one of them is missing, the whole post gets deleted.

The for sale sections were moderated for a brief time with posters being asked to include prices, otherwise the thread would be removed.

I haven't seen it for a while though.

Guys, it's in the rules that a price must be stated in the for sale ads: https://www.scoobynet.com/news-annou...th-2008-a.html "All topics must give a clear description of the goods and a price. Listing items with no price is not good enough. If you are not sure of a price, visit eBay to get an idea."

As it's impossible for us to read every for sale item you can all help by clicking on the 'i' button under a user's name to report the thread to a moderator, that way we can deal with them straight away

Thanks in advance,

Sal.

Just keeping this to the top as it's actually a rather bad pratice on here now with this 'Offers' nonsence!

The Mods should be a bit more on top of this, but as the Young lady said... 'help by Reporting the offenders!'

"Just testing the water" is another one that really annoys me.

Anything that states "Just testing the water" gets moved too

Can I just remind you that we all have full time jobs as well as the voluntary work we do on here and as you know, this is a big forum. We try to keep on top of everything but none of us can sit on here 24/7, we do need your help in pointing these things out

IMO if someone is selling something and just have offers they'll find it harder to sell but maybe thats just my opinion.
If i see a car i like and it has "Offers" i'll either not bother enquiring cos they obviously cant be bothered trying to make a sale or i'll offer something ridiculously low and if they say "thats a bit less than i'm wanting" then i'll say well you must have a price in mind why dont you advertise what you want.

Another reason people do this is they have a price in mind but they want to see if someone will offer them more.

Also the endless "what's it worth??" threads. It is worth what someone is willing to pay. The threads invariably continue with a long list of specs etc and are basically an ad in disguise.

i agree BUT i will be selling some items soon (open to offers ) it would help if the search facility enabled you to get an idea of prices from previous sales etc. at the moment search does not include the sale and wanted sections

with regards to the 'bumping' some will be doing this to get the ad back on the first page as they know most people will not look much past the first 2 pages, this brings us back to 'search' not being available.

the thing that really gets on my t*ts is that quite a large number of members dont have thier location on thier profile just something daft like 'from mars' or something (i know I have a comment in MY location but at least you know where i am )
