Default 312bhp factory special edition??

The dealer I just bought my STI off ( 2004 ) has rang me to tell me the previous owner has just told him it's a 312 bhp factory special edition? Has any body else heard of this ? how can I tell ? I have nothing to compare it too its the quickest one I have driven I put that down to low miles , I drove a 2003 sti with a stainless exhaust on decated and that was slower I though, but he had just put the exhaust straight on with out a re map, maybe that would slow it down infact I'm not sure. Just looking for advise to prove what bhp its running ? I guess rolling rd is the only sure fire way. Worried about my insurance too.

never heard of one?
If it was a UK special edition I'd imagine it would have signs of prodrive parts somewhere

yeah I'm think bully bull my self, like I said only driven others a few times not a seasoned pro like some of you. Back box says STI on it , maybe its been remapped , the special edition was the WRI I thought.

Why don't you give the dealer a ring and ask for the sellers phone number (or get yours passed on with a request to be called).
Then you can talk direct to the previous owner and get clued up on it's service history and ask about any mods that have been done and this "312bhp factory special" guff
Then you'll know what to tell your insurance!
