Default Buying an Import from a Trader ?

Hi ,

Just looking for a bit of info regarding buying an Import from a trader.
The main issue being paperwork.
My mate has enquired about a couple of classics from a couple of different traders and they both say they don't have much paperwork due to buying them straight from the dealer as apposed to an auction site (?)

My main worry is neither of us have heard of this but have heard of places having no p/work due to buying them at auction straight off the boat.

Is it best to walk away or can someone shed some light on this please.

Cheers

Id say that it wasnt true. You can buy cars directly from dealers but the whole industry is geared up to auction trading. This is the lie commonly used to explain why they dont have the expected apprisal sheets and other papers. Ask them how they buy from dealers in Japan then post their answers here: also ask why they would when thousands upon thousands of cars are available at auction every day?. Id guess that theyre crap cars from docks auctions...

I'll let you know how I get on mate but i'm of the same thinking as yourself.
I was surprised to hear that one of the traders bought direct from the dealer as i've never heard of it before but hearing it from another certainly raises an eyebrow.

Why can't they just say it from the docks but it's still a clean example or are all the ones from the dock auctions crap ?

Would you happily buy a car that was first registered here with zero history is the question you should ask yourself. I don't buy a thing unless there's full history and I've bought and sold around 20 odd cars.
