Talking Sim-Tek

Hello ,

As soon as ive run my ra in,Im looking to have a Sim-tek ecu fitted and mapped.

My question is does anybody know a good place to have this fitted and mapped,?

I dont really want to travel miles is there anywhere in the warwickshire area?

I'm in nuneaton..

Or will someone do this mobile i wonder?

Bob rawle of BR developments is one of the best mappers around but he is in Swindon, wiltshire or theres Jolleygreenmonster who also comes highly recommended on here and i think he does mobile.

Bob Rawle is probably one of the best mappers out there, you also have API just down the road in coventry so you can try there think its www.apiengines.com

I'd say it was worth exploring Solaris and whether the features of that ecu suit you better.

How do you find your cold starts Duncan, Ash?? mine,s quit lazy on the Motec, needs a few seconds to turn over so to speak..

I have only heard good stuff about the Solaris so far as well.

Would be good for alot of users due to the amount of extra functions it has,
Don't think it offers enough of an "upgrade" to me personally to warrant a change from the Simtek.

Solaris is very popular with alot of Supra owners as well.

Cold start is as good on Solaris as it was on OE.

The cold start fight has been done far to many times! Ill keep my thoughts to myself

Cold start on the Sim-tek on mine is just as it was on OE as well. Have you had many issues with yours Ash?

Any Non Maf based system will take a few turns longer than a maf system. On a maf system as soon as air moves over the filament it'll fire.

On a non maf system it relies upon the map [ Mass air pressure ] sensor to advise that pressure is building, then it'll fire.

Obviously it takes a turn or two longer on a pressure system to build up.

Motec, Gems, Link, Solarus, Autronic etc., are all good systems as far as l know, BUT they are best part of twice the price of Simtek....

Yes, i think Mark who had the Motec M800 fitted to the car said it was 3k fitted.. glad i never paid for it..

Autronic on my cossie & Evo,s were £1495 fitted..

Simtek (classic) £895 + LS/LC £150 + vat
Simtek (newage) £1100 + LS/LC £150 + vat
Solaris (S6pnp) £1199 (inc knock control, LC, ALS) + vat + mapping
Solaris (S6GP) £1249 (inc knock control, LC, ALS) + vat + mapping

Im sure i read a post from JGM saying he was doing it for £1500 + vat.

Not a lot more then a simtek imo.

Even if it was £400 for mapping (which I doubt) it is still nowhere near double David - I think you need some new batteries for that calculator
