Pick up my sti hawkeye on friday and thinking of giving it a light mod or two,on my blob a few years back i had a scoobyclinic catback exhaust the one they are still selling for £320,a collins dump valve and japspec sti panal filter, are these still worthy mods or is there alot better now, bear in mind that lot was only £500 dont want to be spending big bucks yet,any thoughts.

sti panel filter performed worse than standard in all tests I've seen, save your cash for something else instead.

I am doing my homework on exhausts at the moment and wanted to see what someone/anyone thought about the Scooby clinic exhaust from cat back. Are they good? Are they loud? I don't want mental loud.
Cheers

I thought it was really good sounds the bollox looks good too and cheap, but i know milltek are rated as one of the best but pricey, and iv'e just taken a milltek of my civic type r and can't see what the fuss is about, the scoobyclinic one looked and sounded better i know its different cars but its 2 to 3 times the price, any other pipes out there worth a shout.

Blitz seem very popular and loud, Revolution more subtle but also recommended.
I was directed to youtube to listen to various exhausts and I liked the sound of the Magnex. They say [Magnex] that by fitting the cat back system it will increase power by 10-12%! Can that be true? It seems a lot especially bearing in mind you still got the cat there.

I went for the full Milltek system. Its subtle but releases the burble. With a remap its made a massive difference over the PPP. It is fantastic quality and fits perfectly, unlike some cheap systems

The last test that was easily available to see the results was done by jap performance mag and they reported that the best was the apexi cone and the sti panel came somewhere near 2nd last/worst.
That result has been replicated in other magazines and pretty much all are available on back issue.

I think the japperformance test was done on an stiRA hey were tuning to enter TA or something, they ran about 8 or 10 filters and remapped for them and then put them on the rollers.
The consensus was that unless you have a front mount then the standard airbox and filter is a bloody great set up that shouldn't be binned for the sake of it.

Litchfields/Powerstation found the K&N panel filter (in std airbox) to be better than cone type filters. IIRC due to cone filter suffering from air surge & heatsoak.

Some of the Japanese cone filters may produce slightly more bhp figures but suffer from bad filteration.

I found this test on google.... cone filters only tho

http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/

... theres a lot of debate about this test tho, lots of people say its an unfair test cuz the suction is too great etc etc... anyhows worth a looksy ..
