Default Does front lip spoiler affect handling?

I am a little hesitant about posting this, as it is probably a very silly question. I have a MY05 WRX with Powerstation's stage 1 suspension upgrade (new ARBs and WL anti-lift kit) riding on standard springs. I have never really liked the front of the car as it looks a bit comical with its bulbous shape and am tempted to get a front lip spoiler, which I think really helps (I don't like the way the bottom curves in at the mo).

However, my question is could this affect the handling at all? I am delighted with the results of the Powerstation upgrade and the last thing I would want to do is compromise the handling characteristics by creating more downforce on the front of the car. I know it's a tiny bit of plastic, but then so was the rear spoiler that Audi fitted to the original TT to sort the handling issues on it.

I stand ready to be shot down on this, but would appreciate any views.

If it does make a difference, I have never noticed it on my car which is similar to yours. You are correct in how a splitter improves the looks of the Blob

With a chance of getting flamed I would have to say that it improves front end grip on high speed cornering, but I would say that the main reason I bought it was because of the way it makes the front end look.

I'm sure I read something on here a while ago that stated the amount of extra downforce it creates.

I would doubt that it creates actual downforce but it would reduce lift (same effect) and have a good impact on handling. I would doubt it would be noticeable though and definitely not noticeable on road.

As dynamin says it reduces lift.
STI Japan found in tests to reduce lift at front by approx 20% than without IIRC

i would imainge if you went ankle chopper with whole car undertrayed and diffused f1 style on the rear it woud make a difference, even then, probably not a noticable one on the road... TA style.

Otherwise no.
