Is the whole point of octane booster to reduce detonation? As I heard that OB does not actually give you any more RON rating but actually reduces the explosion in the engine, also that OB is like carpet cleaner. Or something like that.

How much do you need per tank?

Just I'm travelling Europe soon and will be taking some incase I can't find any high RON stations.

Depending on where you go in Europe you shouldn't have a problem - motorway garages all have super. France has at least Super 97, Germany and Austria ( and poss Switzerland? ) have 100 ron V-Power. Italy has super not sure of RON though. Not sure about spain/portugal.

any increase in performance comes from the ECU advancing the ignition, mapping or otherwise, enabled by the increase in octane reducing possibility of DET. If it's not possible to put more timing in there is no performance advantage. The reduced risk of DET is still there though.
I tried some on my car but because the ignition is virtually mapped to max there was no gain in fact the car lost some power-7 bhp,3 lbsft across the rev band and 22 bhp at the wheels on the RR. There may have been differences on the day but none that I can account for.

Were the dyno runs performed on the same day? Did you increase the timing between runs, how much did you put in?

Just use normal unleaded in, it will be fine for a short period until you find a super unleaded station.
It not as if you drive everywhere at full boost is it.....!

Going to France, Austria, Italy, Cezh Republic, Slovakia, Germany, and Holland. Maybe other places if we get side tracked

Dyno runs were 4months apart, the first run followed a re-map after fitting W/M injection, the car was untouched inbetween. I tried 3ml/litre NF octane booster to start with just out of curiosity and I felt the car responded so I then went to 5ml/litre and ran it for a month. I then decided to take it down for a power run to see if it had made any difference. Same rollers, same operater and power was down. I put the octane booster in to see if it would make the car go faster. In my case I kidded myself it had and clearly it hadn't and the reason being in my car is the timing has been advanced as far as it will go.
I can't go as far as to say the octane booster caused a drop in power but the results were at the least surprising

You're 100% correct, the OB didn't effect the result.
