Question Is the chimley looking thing on top of the turbo needed?

As above,
It looks like some sort of air cooler for the turbo and is looking abit taty
Can i just take it off? or is it worth keeping and repairing?

Cheers

It directs cold air onto turbo. Many people remove them after fitting a decat down pipe due to them not fitting but with a bit of cutting they can be made to refit.

I was of the impression that you want the turbo to be hot, as the hotter the exhaust gasses, the faster they flow, hence why people use turbo blankets, and wrap headers etc. Having a cold air supply to it will have the opposite effect.

They get removed when people fit an induction kit, some also fit a delete pipe to remove it.

There's the idle control valve pipe, which needs to be connected to the intake somehow, the induction kits usually have a connection for this on the replacement pipe.
The smaller boost control solenoid pipe that connects under the box can be vented to atmosphere.

Yeah, it's the bled air which they vent into the intake to keep a closed system.
