Default Bugeye STi. UK and JDM differences?

What are the differences between a UK spec 02 Bugeye STi and the JDM STi with regards to engine and interior?

Does the import still suffer from bottom end failures commonly seen on earlier models? I've heard the ECU's on these models are 'self learing' and can adjust to suit the fuel you put in?
Does it need fuel additives?

I've seen a nice JDM STi which I'm going to see tomorrow but having had two imports already (RS twin turbo Legacy and Evo 6) which the bottom end bearings have gone on, I'm a bit weary

JDM is a superior car like for like ie MY vs same MY. Bottom end failure issue is no more on bugeye onwards

I'd always remap a JDM just to be safe.

TX.
