IMHO The only 1 to have is a Apexi AVCR Boost Controller! They can be hard work and expensive but once used to them it's awesome!
Each to there own but I know what I would rather have!

When you say a manual controller are you meaning something like a Dawes Device that is basically a valve that you attach to a boost pipe and you wind out or in to alter the boost??
If so avoid them!!!!
Stick to an electronic controller such as a Blitz, HKS, or Apexi. They're more expensive but a hell of alot better and safer!!

Buy a replacement restrictor pill, they are about £4 from subaru or you can make one. Just get a piece of plastic and drill a hole through it - approx 1mm iirc
