Default My 0-60 time, what do you think

Went to a trackday today organised by Launch Motorsport at Kemble Airfield in Gloucestershire.

Was a well organised and fun day with loads of track time round a sprint type track and we also timed 0-60 using the racelogic gear.

my car is pretty std engine wise just running a H&S back box and centre pipe and i managed a 5.8s 0-60. launch wise i hold the car at about 5-6krpm handbrake on and clutch at biting then let the whole lot go at once.
not something i would recommend doing to often as the clutch didnt like it!!

i think thats pretty good for a near std MY97 UK turbo.

Did you get to 60 in 2nd or had you to change again, also do they do 0-100 at these events?

Faster when it's damp, delay releasing the handbrake until the fronts just start to spin.... this allows the boost to come in and then she'll launch like a rocket.

HTH

Using rapid full throttle blips to hold the revs and slightly lower revs, and when pulling away let the clutch* slip until the turbo spools before letting it up completly, and you might shave off even more time on a classic UK'er.

(well, it worked for me )

Just out of interest, were you dumping the clutch or feeding it in progressively? That's a pretty good time for a 220bhp-ish (?) car.
As dunx says, a cool damp day will give you loads of advantages... Less traction (so you don't bog down), plus of course a denser charge.
I'm still waiting to get mine timed properly to see if my GTech is as accurate as I hope it is!

No I ment the tarmac should be damp. Let's the front wheels spin enough to build some boost, then release the handbrake....

LOL

P.S. Traded in back in 2002.... Snigger !

I love the performance calculator and she says, based on a 1250kg car @220bhp and awd.....
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 220
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1250
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 178.83
0 - 60 (Secs) : 5.54
0 - 100 (Secs) : 15.63
60 - 100 (Secs) : 10.09
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.32
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 95.70
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.92
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 98.69
she says mine will do a 3.8, but thats not taking into account that im running more tourqe than bhp
