Subaru did build a prototype vert, but decided not to go into production. It's styling was a little bit awkward with the fabric roof perched on the rear deck and the rear spoiler looked out of place. There are pictures and a feature in the 'You and Your Subaru Impreza', by haynes.

The smooth deck that Andy C has posted looks a lot neater, all the better to hear that boxer beat!!

looks bit weird but be cool to have open top. Surely it need a roll cage or bar for safety like the Audi TT.

And a shed load of bracing, otherwise it will be like driving a fast Saab 900 vert, scuttle shake anyone

The prototype was called the Operetta. but it was just a concept and never was produced.

Thats nothing compared to the Casa Blanca edition, which was available to buy.

Not a patch on the (I assume) photoshop jobbie at the top.

Assuming that you'd want proper roll-over protection and retain at least some stiffness in the shell, very difficult to get it safe and looking right. Add 100KG of steel and a Mercedes like quick, flip up roll over bar.

A v6 rear spoiler should do the trick
