Did anyone by any chance read the recent Autocar article- an odd collection of random paragraphs which got the mouth watering in hopes of a multi-car past to present 4WD greats comparison, and left the reader dumb-struck once they realized that all they did was get the cars togther for photo's? The only intelligible content I was able to glean from the few words written was that the Sti was a bit faster cross-country than the Quattro and slower than the Mitsubishi's and Skyline- something Evo mag would disagree with.
If Autocar think that the ability for one car to put "air" between it and another car is the only factor in how their handling compares, then it would seem they either know nothing at all or are way too lazy to actually find out. An absolutly pathetic test, glad I read (in 2 minutes) it at the newstand and did not contribute to their profits.

Unhappy

i was a bit more stupid, got it rushed home and read it and was very dissapointed by an article which was not worth the very expensive glossy paper it was written on. Article was useless, and like you say did absolutely nothing to inform or compare cars.

I want my money back. :-/

I go into the newsagents to BUY something, but can't get anywhere near the shelf because of tightar$es that stand there three deep reading as if they were in the public library, when they have no intention of buying...

Since it cost you nothing to read anyway, haven't you got something more constructive to whinge about......

Dave,
Over the years I have literally spent thousands of dollars on car magazines- and every year most of them have gotten worse and worse giving me less and less knowledge. How dare them expecting me to continue to pay them for crap. I want the through articles once written by Car and Fast LAne back. Maybe I should do something more constuctive with my time- maybe I should start my own magazine.

Harry,
New York- correct. Regretably the US mags are just as poor.

It's difficult to find well written mags any more - used to enjoy Car Mag when Setright, Bishop and Blain were featured. Now, it's Alexi Sayle - hardly the same.....

Jeremy
I have to agree with you - Car is just a shadow of its former self since the Setright etc days, Performance Car is gone, only CCC and Evo as the decent ones left - and CCC has little actual content, and the quality of Evo is up and down

Mind you, I have to like Autocar - I won a day in a Tyrrell F1 car two years ago through them, and a freebie trip to the Jerez GP track to drive various Vauxhalls last year

Another boring thread...

Jeremy hope you don't get a chance to see a program from Driven in a couple of months time.

You're right - let's give Autocar its due, Dave. It's none too easy to find enough material for a weekly. And Evo is positioned where Car should have been/used to be in the marketplace.
