scooby sprint classes?

ahaa thats good to know. i would be in the last class but trying hard as possible
Got the know how but not necessarily the practice, especially on a track i dont know..
So its 97 quid plus 50 for entry fee.
I guess tyres are going to be the major factor, even different road tyres are going to make a big difference, Do people get hard core into it like f1's/r888 are the only tyres to run or do people run cheapo tyres too?
Wouldnt wanna come last cos im using non fresh r888's or something..
they are all up in elvington! cept one.
Does everyone do full launches? as i have standard clutch / gearbox and thats gonna loose me some time im sure...

cmasterscoob,
It is far from "hardcore"... I think if you ask anyone that ran in Round 1, quite the opposite was thought. It was a great friendly atmosphere of people enjoying themselves.... even I spoke to quite a few people!
James,
Now now!

R888s seem to do the biz on the day, i was using TOYO T1Rs and they were crap as i was getting bags & bags of understeer not good, so its R888s in next round for me, I finished 11th in class which is not good for me, but you live and learn for the next one

It would be my first competative event and first sprint. Done a few track days only but would like to do something like this.
is DCCD essential for these handling circuits?
What kinda kit are people actually running?
I would be running a classic STI, i guess all others will be type R 's RA's and P1 's etc
I guess i can enter the santa pod one and just hope i dont come last. My car control is ok so far, seen alot of people alot worse than me. Car needs work to eliminate underteer tho.
I would have to enter in modified as i have these planned over the next couple of months:
Coilovers, front & rear arbs. ALK, Droplinks.
Dont think ill have the money to up the power before 23rd august, but as long as i can get it handling proper i guess.

DCCD isn't essential but it might help a bit. For instance I struggled to get my back end out which would have helped in a couple of places but sunday's circuit is likely to be the twistiest of the 5 events.
My car is much as you say in terms of suspension + a couple of braces & seriously focused track settings. It is an RA but then has a cage in it and full interior bar the rear seats & powerwise I'm guessing about 320.
Things like alignment and tyre pressures really matter on events like this, so attention to detail is important too.
Where are you based?

Also i can probably read the regs. But safety equipment will easily make this out of range for me. Will i be needing FIA approved seats/helmet/clothing/hans device/roll cage?
Or will usual track day precautions surffice? Enclosed helmet, fireproof clava, and ***** of steel?

Im in berkshire.
Yeah will be getting a alignment done again when i get the new bits and bobs on. Am on a very tight budget. It may be an option to sell my work car and get a type R/RA and use the sti as a daily drive.
I need to go away and do some calculations as to what ill be needing/spending.
I still may enter to the pod just for fun, and get the car ready for 2010 instead.
I have family up near elvington so i may pop up for one of those to. Would cost a fortune to get the car back if i killed it tho...

cmasterscoob,
Don't take this the wrong way, but you really don't need to worry about details like that (but you obviously can if you wish to extract the most from your car in the class that you are running). All you basically need to do is sign up, have a Scoob, Driving License and approved helmet and off you go! It really is that simple.
This is not a ***** out full on competition (but it can be, if you want to approach it like that).... it is about joining in and having fun at a very small cost (in reality).
I don't care if I come last in Round 2 (i'm sure the Constructor Team I am in will though, oh well! ). It really IS about the taking part and being able to meet and talk with other like minded people, all out to have a good laugh.
I spoke to a number of competitors on Sunday and whether they were seasoned pro's or first timers, the feedback was the same..... they really enjoyed it!
Have a crack and join in mate!

Hi CM a few bits of video in the WYIOC section, just a taster for you.
Drew was running a JDM STI with an intake and exhaust mod only and did rather well.
Bez runs a 2.5 WRX with a "new" rear diff... fitted on Saturday night ! Plenty of tyre smoke and the driver of the day.
Both used road tyres on their daily drivers.

P.S. One off, pay on the day is £75 !
