Default Checking an Import

I am looking at a fresh import, it hasn't been registered in the UK yet. Is there any way to do an HPI check or similar, or find out if it was stolen in Japan?

The seller and car seem OK but I just want to be really sure.

Thanks for any help!

Is a Jumvea certificate the one you get to say the vehicle has been de-registered in Japan? I know to get this the auction house has to do lots of checks so they don't sell dodgy motors. The same as they have to do a check to give the car a rating. Mind you I wouldn't know a genuine cert from a fake and I can't understand what it says anyway
