Default 330S road test

Hmmmmmmm.
Interesting one this.
First impressions are as follows and I have given it a good test.
Pulls stronger than any other Subaru I`ve owned.
Reminds me of a go I had in a type 25 more torque....nice
Better than my last WR1 I think.
Feels a little "floaty" at speed.
Its like its being pushed up in the middle of the car.
Would like to uprate the suspension to something else.
No visible Bluetoth on the head unit even tho its mentioned in the manual.
No TMC.
Stereo sounds ****e.
Less understeer than expected.
More fuel economy than expected.
Lacks initial turn in bite and light steering.
Likes oversteer !!! Nice
For me it needs a better sound system bluetooth and a slightle tighter suspension feel.
Feels under damped at speed.
All in all though the best value for money Subaru I`ve driven.
May be investing and a trip to Litcho for some suspension work.
Anyone have any ICE advice based around keeping the factory nav etc???
Whats the sub like in the book??
How do you get bluetooth to work??
Speakers sound like they have bags over them lol
Come to think of it i still have a diamond sub in my garage guess it will plug in??
No Ipod connection

Happy you like the hatch STI mate, there is a good car in there waiting to get out

But you might want to think about getting a nearly new secondhand UK STI instead

Get everything Whiteline do for it, fit a set of decent coilovers (or lowering springs) and get a decent geo - now that's better...

Fit a Milltek 3" turbo back system, K&N filter (or CAI) and get a decent re-map - 350-360bhp and 380-400lbft torque - now that's better...

Fit a head unit, decent amps, component speakers and a proper high quality sub in the boot - (and while you are at it throw a VHF tracker on there because the thieves know an easy way of disabling the Metasat) now that's better...

Get the recaro's secondhand but unused (there are a few knocking about from rally projects) and get the rear windows tinted if you must...

And get all this done and still have change left from the extra cost of buying a new 330S

Just a thought...

Hi Dave.
Not buying new mate nearly new so happy with that.
Will get some suspension and geom sorted and do the ICE with time.
Still got some out of my WR1 in the garage I think!!!
Its already good just not perfect.
Very good attempt tho and I like its different looks especially in white.
Dont want boom boom boom from exhaust and subs been there done that now40!!
Ilike the fact that the car is more subtle.

LOL, I am also nearly 40 and I love a bit of boom boom boom

Have you heard the Milltek system, fruity but quiet mate and gets you the flow rates you need...very subtle

Bluetooth just plugs into the back on Nav unit. It's not the best sound quality but it's easy to operate and great having all the contact numbers stored in the Nav.

There is an aux socket there, but that PIA is you can't control it from the head unit.

To get that function from Subaru is £1700. I looked into it when I spec'd my RC. On that cost I can do alot of things inc prodrive springs and aftermarket head unit. I'm waiting for the aftermarket to catch up that way I can get an aftermarket head, that will control the ipod and let me control it from the steering wheel too.

Bluetooth is already in the unit, you just need to order the mic unit and away you go, suspension wise I have the Type 20 setup and it is fab.

I am getting the PPP and prodrive springs fitted to my 08 STI type UK. If I wasn't so far from Litchfields I would be getting their AST kit fitted. I got a quote for about £1995 to have it fitted by them. I Just don't have time to get the car there. The parts cost £1295 + VAT
