New WRX owner questions...
I now have a lovely looking WRX on my car and am learning new stuff about it everyday.
* I managed to lock myself out of the car due to the autolocking system enabled on my Clifford Immobiliser where I started the ignition, shut the door only to find it had locked after 30 seconds. Locksmith called out and sorted for £90.
* I've realised the drivers seat has an extra lever which lowers and hightens the seat (found that out only yesterday).
* The rear view mirror has a button latch at the bottom which dims and brightens the mirror when you look through it.
And now the stuff I don't understand.
* There is a button on the steering column. Have not got a clue what this does? It cannot be the hazard light as that is on the centre console above the CD player.
* The boot can only be opened using the lever in the car. I tried it with my carkey and it doesn't open the boot? Is this correct.
* I only have one carkey at the moment. Any idea how much it costs for another one to be made up and if so, do I need any documentation?

Hi
Ok the button above the steering wheel if its a new wrx is for showing other drivers your reversing
put this on and get out of the car and check all your lights good chance they will be on
No you should be able to open boot with key also
And a new key will cost in region of 120 with programming.
If it costs a lot less i was robbed by Subaru

It just puts the side lights on and they stay on when you take the key out. i.e. for when you park in the dark and want to leave the lights on.
You will find that the lights will normally switch off whatever position the stalk light switch is in when you turn the ignition off.

Yes, noticed the lights go out as soon as the ignition is turned off. Good feature. The CTR used to just give me a sound when I left the lights on.

One of the VW's I hired had a funny parking light system.....if you left it parked with the indicator stalk to the left or right it turned the sidelights (parking light) for that side only ..strange.
BUT
I'm of an age when I remember going to the car at night, winding down the window and putting in a red / white light attached to a battery over the window and winding it up again.........now THAT was a real parking light

I had the same problem with the car locking me out on my old WRX. My house keys were in the car, and the spare fob was in the house so I decided the lesser of two evils was to smash the window on my back door and get the spare fob.
That only cost me £30 for the glass but took me an afternoon of running around to fix it. I was going to buy a boat and never got around to it, so actually it saved me a whole heap of money!
