already posted this on another forum, but just want other opions too
in my hands i got a VF35 and pink injectors
i was gonna have it fitted and mapped, but looking at prices at Simtek,
everything done would be just under £2k, for an extra 50bhp (more less)
Ecutek was not recommended so..
anyway i can't decide what to do
either
1, keep the car as it is. and sell the parts
2, go ahead with it
3, sell parts and sell car and get something else. (i'm now edging on an EVO, which i liked for ages)
however
just realised i think my car is not hit with the £400 tax (bugeye wrx reg. 17th march)
but the evos i saw are .. viii- x's
kinda stuck in the middle,
the evo's i like are £400 in tax, and some strangely enough aren't, but i think will hit me if i take one in, (the fq400 are £215 tax O_o )
another thing that gets to me are 4.5k miles per service or 6 months!!

Why was Ecutek not recommended?
Just had my classic MY00 remapped for the second time via Ecutek by Bob Rawle.
First mapped on standard TD04 to 273/273 - which was pretty quick on a classic.
Now mapped again:
VF35/standard 440s/Ninja SportsCat/Walbro
325bhp/320lbft
Fantastic - too quick if anything at the moment but I'll get used to it I am sure!
Revs all the way now to redline - pointless going past 5.5k before with a remapped TD04 but now 1bar by 3k and power all the way to 7k

JGM know what he's on about!
I'm running Ecutek, and in the next few weeks having it mapped to over 400bhp on an ecutek, and there shouldn't be any problems with it.
Why was it recommended you didn't run ecutek by the way?

the guy said he would recommend simtek over ecutek
he said ecutek is not that accurate (ie rev range)and he doesn't agree the method it uses, ie sensor attached to exhaust,
my current car is ecuteked, by race solutions, which i think they are gone now O_o
it ran 268.7bhp and nearly 290lbft
as you can see, unlike similar cars it did not hit a comfortable 275bhp
with the Vf35 fitted i may get 300bhp??
current mods are
fuel pump
k&n filter
200 cel sports cat downpipe

what i do like the car is the current Tax costs, still turns head..good thing or bad.
what i don't like . too much maintenance ie bits of electrical thoughts etc
if i do move on, what do you think of hawkeye, Wr1 and the type 25 (blobeye)
any ideas of tax costs and power?

sorry to go against obviously another simtek dealer but recommending a simtek over ecutek on a wrx with 550cc injectors and a vf35 is ridiculas.. yes the simtek is great and has some nice features but if you just want the car mapped up and running nice on the new mods then ecutek will work perfect with those mods.
Especially as you have an ecutek licence already and therefore the cost is only for the mapping.
I presume they are not an ecutek dealer?
Both would do a great job on that setup (simtek or ecutek).
just because it made less on the standard turbo won't necessarily mean it will on the new setup

As I said above I achieved 325/320 with my VF35 on 440s, you don't need 550s for that level of power even, but as you have them no worries there.
268bhp/275bhp - you'd never notice 7bhp? Your torque figure is good anyway.
You should easily hit 320 I would think maybe more.

talked to a few friends who told me, that my current car is part of my life and I can't get rid of it,
only person who made no comments was a mate who just bought a 390bhp supra TT lol.

Well, according to www.letstorquebhp.com Performance calculator - if you got your car to 348bhp then you would have the same power/weight ratio as your mates 390bhp Supra!!
