Default Noise - my 2006 2.5 WRX PPP is too quiet!

Guys,

I have a 2004 2.0 WRX PPP, and just bought a 2006 2.5 also with PPP. But its a lot quieter than the old one!

Is this normal? Or could there be an issue with my new car?

Any low cost tips to make it a bit noisier?

Cheers,

Jonathan

Nothing wrong, its just that the 2.5 is just quieter.

I changed fron a MY05 2.0 STi Type UK, which had a lovely burble to the MY07 RB320. The RB has a nice sound, just not as good as my old Type UK!

A low cost tip would be to just change the back-box to say a Blitz Nur Spec S, or for full on burble get the Spec R.

I'm sure that the masses will be along with all sorts of exhaust option soon.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Where can I find more info on a de-resonated centre pipe? Is it a mod to my existing one or a replacement?

Cheers,

Jonathan

As norman dog said - you need to get shot of the resonated pipe (the bit that joins to the back box). I tried allsorts on mine, but when I change this pipe for a non resonated one (£99 I think ), it was that that made the big difference. Mine now has a deres pipe and aferburner vortex back box and sounds perfect imo. Even pops nicely too

Anyone such as scoobyparts/tsl/revolution etc sells them. Or even ebay. Its only a shortish peice of pipe that is straight through. Your existing pipe is the part that looks like its swallowed a hot water bottle!. No remap needed etc

Thanks again guys, this is really helpful.

I found a replacement pipe here Scoobyparts Ltd TORNADO NEW AGE REAR PIPE which looks like it might help.

It strikes me that anything involving a remap at this stage could be quite costly.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Thats the part. That will give you the burble back. I just had a remap, without decating or changing to a sports cat and even without changing those bits the difference is amazing. The car is much smoother and is now producing 340BHP/360lbs/ft. A decat/Sports cat would see more again, but funds wont allow it!!

Thanks Luckyscoob, sounds like replacing that is a no brainer. I'll go for one of those, and then look to see what else to do after that.

340bhp on yours sounds exciting. I'd want some brake / wheel / tyres upgrades on mine to handle that. But given its subtle looking Sportwagen, I could have some real fun scaring some of the local Chelsea footballers in their flash cars! http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ies/tongue.gif

Cheers,

Jonathan
