None !

Until you get over 350bhp or consider running a front mount, the OE air intake is perfectly suited and there is little to no benefit apart from maybe a K&N or Green panel filter, mainly for their lifetime serviceability.

Spend your cash on chassis, suspension and brake mods to make it quicker and safer. Also consider driver training to get the best out of you and it !

I'm a relatively new WRX wagon owner too...also an import.

After reading a bit on here you will find that most ppl say that cone filter/IKs can tend to reduce to the bhp/torque rather than improve it. I took their advise and bought my first upgrades today...brakes (discs, pads, braided hoses) and K&N panel air filter (Green is same price and performs exactly the same apparently). Also got PIAA wipers and de'tango.

Looking for a decent backbox next...would prefer an oval 6x4" if any one can recommend anything decent.

What year is your Wagon?

Correct. Unless supplied with a plentiful amount of cold, clean air, I/K's will draw in hot and dirty engine bay air which may reduce power, and give your I/C more work to do. Some cars (98-00) also suffered MAF failure due to the increased vibration (hence, noise) of I/K's, which can lead to total engine failure if unnoticed. A panel may or may not give +/- 2bhp, regardless of what manufacturers claim, and their only real benefit is their lifetime use, possibly saving a few pennies in the long run.

There's a lot of Snake Oil for sale in the car tuning world

I have an APS CAIK where the K&N filter is in the wing and not the engine bay so it sucks in lovely cold air aswell as small furry animals and children I also have an FMIC no MAF and a remap.

Mines a '96 wagon. Definitely go with the K&N/Green panel filter...then invest in better exhaust system. Thats my plan anyway.

i run a Apexi induction kit that replaced my K&N. its a dramatic difference in throttel responce and the power lasting through out the rev range. The K&N i had was not really in good condition (came with the car) but with out a shoddow of a doubt the Apexi makes the car run a whole lot better. noticable difference.

i also run a sealed resonatoer air flow box so it has a consant supply of cold air!! no heat soak!! love it!

I have a bookmark saved at home, all about big name airfilters. It test for flow bhp how well they clean the air and other tec stuff.
Apexi comes top by far as it filter as well as gives more flow. As for the others HKS, K&N well might as well use the wifes tights.
Anyways if you want the link posting let me no.
