You shouldn't be charged more than £40 (I only charge £35!!). What you will find is that some independant garages will not take the time to clean the calipers properly. I've had to fix mates cars after they have been to the main dealer, 10 mins cleaning will make all the difference.

My garage charged me £50 not bad considering it had to go in 3 times to change the discs and pads because the pins could not be removed and didnt have a spare set also the bolts all round were siezed so had a few problems but done now.

Probably the easiest job there is. 5x wheel nuts, 2x caliper nuts, some pins and a retaining wire, and the little disc nut. DIY in under an hour, even for a novice.

Even Subaru Main Dealer prices are not bad nowadays.

Expect to pay about 1 hours labour, although an idea to have it agreed for a fixed fee upfront.

Check the old discs for uneven wear as soon as they come off as it can be an indication of the conditon of the pistons/seals.
