Default Roof Box on MY06 wagon?

I can't get search to work for me properly - apologies if this has been covered already (?).

With 2 growing kids and 2 labradors our MY06 wagon is occaisionally stretched for space. Have been looking at scoob-alternatives.... but I don't really want to change!

Anyone used a roofbox on their scoob? Any comments or pointers? Not the neatest solution, but we can invariably plan the times when we need to take all the above plus additional items, so a temporary-fit option may be ideal.

MY06 wagon doesn't have the roof rails unfortunately, but Thule do a set of of bars (square section steel, or alu aero style for a bit more £s).

I used genuine Subaru bars when I had my wrx, which my mates now got on his '06 wagon. They sit a little higher than Thule's but I prefered them to the Thules, mainly because they didn't sit on any of the paintwork.

The other scooby alternative(what I replaced my wrx with)

Thanks PJ.

The Subaru bars look like stilts! Were you worried the Thule ones would mark the paint?

We've looked at a Frosty and it's certainly bigger than the Wagon, but I'm not sure it's a sufficiently big step up to justify the expense / downsides.

Yeah they do sit high!!
I didn't want the Thule's marking the paint,as they clamp around the door seal and the foot pad sits directly onto the paint, above the door.
If you want the Thules, you could probably get some sort of clear adhesive protection from Halfrauds etc.

Thule bars and a mid-size box ordered yesterday (and weirdly just arrived whilst I was typing this).

Will post pics when fitted.
