Kind of 'Tongue-in-Cheek' post this but:-

I think I know how to stop your Scoobie getting nicked!!

DO:- Buy a Wagon (Less street cred for scum!)
Keep it as Standard as Possible
Live in a 'nice' neighbourhood
Be a BIG b4stard

DO NOT:- Make it sound like a Jet Aircraft!!
Modify it and showing that you have!
Fit BIG 'look-at-me' Spoilers
Be a 9 stone Whimp
Live in Moss-Side with on-street parking!
Buy special editions like P1, RB5,

Seriously, I think that the more you can 'Disappear' into the Hum-Drum the better!!

I park my (Standard) Wagon 'nose-in' to any and every car parking space - hence, hiding the front end which shouts, 'Steal-Me'!! Those who park with 'nose-out' to show off are asking for trouble! IMHO

I have just had a thought, I dont suppose it would matter which way you parked one of the 'UGLY-DUCKLING' MY01, 02's?? the thief would die laughing either way!! Anyone any thoughts or info as to whether the UGLY ones get nicked or not??

Someone buy my Escort Cabriolet so I can put the Impreza away in the garage!! Sunny this weekend!!

Pete

Maybe the best theft deterrent is a dodgy white Escort Cabriolet?

AHA, thats where you are wrong!!

My way you get to keep the Turbo!!

I am VERY worried here:-

I post and within MINUTES 2 moderators post replies!!!

Am I being monitored?? Am I on a Black-list?? After the evident crackdown on Moderating - is there a 'Hit-List'??? Is it possible that all the moderators get an e-mail alert when a member of a 'Certain undesirable Group' posts a thread??

Come on you can tell me moderators ....... I'll keep it quiet!!

If the new models are thief repelling, why do all the insurers insist a tracker be fitted?

this lewisy bloke has got a point, im gonna go and live in a hobbit hole so i dont get nasty people bother to break into my house, i'll then give away all my money so no one bothers to mug me for some cash and then walk everywhere so no one nicks my car.

ohhh, but if i get knocked down by a bus which is 10 twillilion times more likley than getting jacked someone remind me how pointless it was!

Simple - Cheap - Non Dealer Easy Fit Device ?

PARTS. One "I love Corgi's" sticker.

One fake plastic/rubber Dog Turd.

FITTING. Affix sticker to driver's door window.

Place Turd on driver's seat.

Lock car as normal.Go indoors.

Let's face it.Would you want to sit in that car?

On a hot sunny day?

I dont think so.

Actually you're all wrong. The ULTIMATE anti-theft deterrent would be a device that 5 minutes into the thieves escape locks all the doors, takes complete control of the driving of the car and uses sat. nav. to drive forthwith and directly to Wormwood Scrubs maximum security hole. On arrival, gates open automatically, ****** is released next to "I like 'em soft Bubba Hard", doors close again and car returns automatically to wait in quiet suburban street for collection of next contestant!

And before you say anything, the technology to do this is already here... I saw it on Knight Rider just the other day.

I always park my wagon nose in too

I used to argue with anyone that called it an *estate* car but now I just nod...and say "yep it is a boring estate car... really slow too..and overated..."
maybe it might turn someone off nicking one

Just take the air vent off your bonnet to make it look like a sport and put a "SPORT" sticker on boths sides of the car. Now why would someone rob a car thats got a hole in the bonnet and looking like a spor.

Haven't read the rest of this thread but what about the Toad eye alarm that takes pictures of your car thief, or the Toad smoke one that fills the car with smoke so they can't see anything?

Personally I would favour the old hand grenade alarm but you'd have to be pretty careful yourself......

Its a UK300??

Is it a company car? none of my business - I just LOVE the RB5 (I think its the BEST Impreza ever!) and cant see anyone parting with thier own real money for something with all the style of a Pink Cadillac!!

Cheeky git! It's still 220bhp and besides, as well as the driving at 16, no speed limit, very cheap insurance benefits of living here there's also the hardly any car crime aspect too. I could leave it unlocked overnight and it'd still be there tomorrow!

LegacyRS - whats the point of a car like that on the IOM ???

When I was there in the 70's on my motorbike - I would accelerate to 60 from the ferry and fall off the other end of the Island!!

Zoiks fella! If you're that bad on a bike then PLEEEASE don't come over on it in TT week or you'll be one of the unfortunate people that turns themselves into jam! And the less of that the better!

Just thought as well if it took you 33 miles to reach 60 what the fudge was your bike? An MZ by any chance?

RB5SCOTT - I will repeat what I said earlier, the scum will die laughing before being seen dead in a car with the rear spoiler slipping off the back!!

I would assume by your name you once had an RB5??? surely to god you didnt change that?? please tell me its a company car and you had no choice

Pete
