Classic UK turbo engines
What engines all came in these
I have a UK turbo with the coil pack on the centre of the engine
Just curious if they used one engine or more?
here is an old picture of my engine - Any chance people could put up pics just trying to clarify if a car has had an engine swap.

What model/year is your car? version 1/2 has the slanty intercooler and the 4 not sure on the 3, has the same as the one you have pictured.
Im pretty sure the coil pack goes to the side on the version 5/6 along with the revised intercooler,(dumpvalve bolts on to it, rather than a pipe connecton.)
It look the same as my engine, mine is a uk calssic version4 MY98.

With the coil pack in the middle of the engine it makes it a phase 1.5, as in 97/98 cars, 99/00 cars had the coil pack to one side (rhs when you look into the engine).

Its an N reg and doesnt have a coil pack in the middle. he said its wires.
He thinks it has a WRX engine in it
It made 240bhp and 200.2 lflbs on the RR last week - All it has it a decat, backbox, dump valve and ARC top mount intercooler.

WRX engine is the same as a UK one
Which is stronger? well supposedly the CDB ones (92-early 94) but the internals are what counts, so the STI engines will be the stronger, new age ones are much better (STI) but doubt there is much in it with the classics.

Not unless they have changed the engine number on the V5, you can check that to see if the engine has been changed, otherwise its a phase 1, phase 1.5 or phase 2 engine

Bear in mind the engine could have had a replacment short block (or long engine) from a different year car and still retain all the original ancilaries, inlet and heads etc. Therfore it could look no different to the original.
Need the engine numbers really (although even then that won't tell you if its been rebuilt with a reground crank, or forged pistons etc).
