I am hoping someone can help me.
I am thinking of doing some track days, I have a 03 WRX with VF34 turbo, STI injectors, STI top mount intercooler, prodrive sports cat downpipe, and de-cat up pipeIt has been remapped by Zen.
The car already has prodrive springs and whiteline rear ARB.
Is it worth spending the more money on the engine, shocks, brakes etc, or should I sell it and buy an STI to start with?
Is the STI much stronger than a WRX engine?
Would else can be done to my engine to make it more powerful?

sti is safe around 400 and wrx is 350. if you want more than 400 the only benefit of a sti is the 6 speed. i am keeping my wrx and taking it to 500 + buts its not the cheap and easy way.

To be honest, by the looks of your setup if you want more power best way forward is to get an sti.
If you want your car to be quicker though , get as much weight off it as possible.
Its power to weight at the end of the day not all out power, especially on track.
The WRX is 100 kg lighter than the sti beleive it or not which is a considerable amount! Lose some more weight and with 320-340 hp you got a very capable car.

STI also has better brakes and suspension, BUT if you are going to turn it into a track car, then EVEN better brakes suspension and power are all likely to be part of the addiction.
IMHO
dunx
P.S. WRX box will die at 400/400, STI box takes 500/500 with no real problems.

Thanks for the answer guys.
I haven't done anything to brakes yet
apart from fitting mintex pads.
I was looking at possibility of getting a sti type ra just to take to the track on a trailer, but cost is too much as wouldn't want to leave it on my drive with no insurance.
Think I will probably put coil over setup on my car and replace brakes with bigger ones.
Will have to speak to Zen about more torque rather than BHP.

i have a 2003 wrx and upgrading the brakes has made a big difference for the track. I would recommend doing that next if you are planning to track it - godspeed kit was good value for me
