08/09 Hatch front grill removal?
Hi Guys
Just about to fit a new horn and cannot get the grill off, revoved the 2 rows of clips along the top (1 row in the body coloured part and 1 row in the grill section, 8 in total) but the bottom just won't budge, obviously do not wanted to use exessive force?
Assuming it is clipped in somehow?
Any ideas?
Thanks
Arron

you have to remove the f,bumper mate..
helped a mate do his grill and there is three screws that join the grill to the bumper.
you have to un clip all the front arch, and under the bumper along the belly pan and out the lot comes.
then you will see the screws there is no other way of doing it ..
cheers chris
sorry there is three plastic screws just in the front arch.that join the bumper to the arch.
(you will see them).
and i think it was 8 in the belly pan

Cheers Chris, I'd heard to do the lower mesh the bumper had to come off but not the top, arghh, oh well hands now cut up.
Managed to just squeeze hands in to fit horns but atleast I know for next time when I come to fit the mesh.
So there are just screws that hold the bumper on, no big bolts?
Thanks a mill

Hi Arron
That was me that GC8R helped with my bumper and grille
It was really easy so nothing to worry about taking off. I'm not sure there are any screws actually but may be wrong They are just the quarter turn clips that have a screw head. All easy to get out. The bumper has some "locking fingers" where it joins to the wing, these just pull apart. When you do that part it is easier to get someone on the other side of the bumper to help support it as it breaks free from the car deffo put some carpet or foam or towels on the ground so if it drops you dont chip the paint
Free Publications > Accessory Installation Guides
If you go up about 90 PDF files from the bottom of this list there is the workshop manual for fitting the sports mesh grill which shows all the screw locations
It says this exactly 2009 Mesh Grille, STI (J1010FG200XX) (128.41 kb)
Good luck
Ben

done this lol
front bumper off as the top section grille is screwed onto the lower section and unless you have hands like a midget you will find it difficult to remove them without taking the bumper off lol
i pulled the 4 pin clips out along the top & pulled the grille back a little to fit my horns, then later on fitted the wr sport mesh and had the whole front end off

Well for me to fit mine would have meant taking the splitter off aswell! So i carefully pulled the top grille forward to acess the screws with a small screwdriver. i havent got small hands but just managed it. Once fitted put everything back to normal, applied plasters to my cut hands and wiped the blood from the shiney new mesh!!
Remove bumper if you can!!

Cheers guys.
Ben that link is the best, can't believe I have not seen it before and just checked out fitting guide for front fogs, seems its a bumper off job aswell so may do mesh and fogs at the same time.
Lee, did actually try your tack but dropped first screw and lost it instantly!! Thanks for note on splitter though, that may now have to be fitted last.
Cheers

You dont need the bumper off for front fog light instalation, simply remover the lower part of the wheel arch liner and push the fog light in and bolt in and plug the wire on less than a 20 min job for the whole kit
