Default B&M VS Japspeed Short Shifter

Whilst I`ve got my dash apart I would like to fit a short shifter. The two I`m looking at are the B&M version (£120 approx) and Japspeed version (£50 delivered).

I`m very tempted to buy the Japspeed one but are they really any good considering they`re just over half the price as the B&M short shifter kit ?

I have no problem paying the extra for the B&M shifter but if the Japspeed shifter is just as good then I might as well go for that.

Also, is it a straight forward job to fit? ie. do I need to get under the car ?

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

I have the B&M fitted to my 03 wagon. Great shift feel and significantly shorter throw. Still notchy and mechanical in feel, but that's the nature of the gear box. Precise action - I used to miss third on occasion with the standard one, not any more though. I'd recommend it.

Can't comment on fitting, but the fitter spent half an hour and said it was an easy job.

Thanks for the comments. If I can find a cheap second hand B&M shifter I will go with that, but if not, it will be the Japspeed or similar.

or u could try and find a prodrive one or indeed one from a jap import sti model as they have the short shift fitted as standard. i sourced a sti one from a1 subaru breakers for my classic uk turbo and was very happy with it, was £50 iirc.
