Unfortunately SN cannot host (or be the publisher for) un-proven allegations concerning commercial organisations or indeed private individuals, as it lays itself open to accusations of defamation or libel, for which they can be sued.

Defamation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Don't know about the thread in question but that is quite probably why and why I've removed another thread from General this morning.

its a touch harsh i think.....especially when the alligations are FACTUAL and not made up rubbish. I thought part of the reason sites like these were setup is so people can express their opinions and experiences so other people can learn from the success/failures

IMO its like being told what you can and cannot say, its pathetic to be honest.......next we will be being told we cant mention cetain topics at meets because its been orbanised by SN member.....

PS Area 52 stinks and everything that brad brings to them is the least they deserve

So stating facts, I'll take it at face value, in the Area 52 thread isn't allowed, yet blatant advertising is?

Not hard to find either, only a couple of threads down from this one.

Bit double standards in my opinion.

Cheers.. Positive votes I take it?

We did this a few years ago but a number of traders were voting themselves up and competitiors down (nothing to do with API btw), so threads of this type are bound to be vaped.

The recent Pennine thread was not removed, and as such the mods by removing the thread on Area 52, have been inconsistent in applying their rules!! I and others on here stand by Pennine, however that said, we would also still like to see a consistent approach applied in terms of what is removed and what isn't!!

Puff -
I have noted your first para. Having undertaken legal studies I would urge you to also keep an eye on other threads where allegations have been made and where some of these have been made falsley, and would be open to defamation claims, which could be undertaken by those who the claims are made against!

The recent Pennine Post definetely has allegations which quite a lot are based on infactual information. The accuser of some of these allegations has been corrected by involving parties, this clearly demonstrates how infactual the allegations were!!

I would therefore urge you and your fellow mods to take caution of what you say and how consistently you are applying any actions you do undertake.

KR,

JP

And who makes the decision as to whether something is obvious or not?
