Rally course recommendation required
#1
Me and a friend have been given Red Letter Day vouchers by our respective females (well trained obviously! ) which we are planning to spend on a day's rallying.
They have a number of centres that we can choose from, and I suspect some will be better than others. Any recommendations (or warnings) regarding any of these would be most welcome:
Bill Green Rally School (Northants)
Drive-it-All (Oxon)
Preswold Hall Rally School (Leics)
Shropshire Rally School
Rally Drive (Leics)
Vision Motorsport (Bucks)
Silverstone Park Rally School (Northants)
All are within reasonable distance, so no problem there. It's more a matter of which place will offer the best cars and most wheel time. Any info gratefully received.

Bill gwynne rally school is not on your list, but gives you a chance to drive a group N impreza or escort cosworth.
Well worth the money in my opinion.
if you want contact details I can post them here.

Thanks. We have vouchers that have already been paid for, so we need to pick from the list I think. However, I think "Bill Green" and "Bill Gwynne" might be the same thing, give or take a bad phone line. Please do post up the contact info and I'll give them a ring -- GrpN Scooby sounds like the ticket!

Yeah, I just checked their website (www.billgwynne.com) and they're in Northants so that ties together. Still interested to hear any other recommendations for or against the schools listed tho'

My brother and I did the Silverstone Park one a few years. It isn't anything to do with the circuit - its just nearby.
When we were there they used mk2 escorts on bald road tyres. Morning session was spent doing short laps round a roughly triangular course handbraking round 3 tightish corners per lap plus powersliding round cones. After lunch spent time doing longer runs round a network of narrow muddy roads. Pretty good fun - particulary as it p1ssed down all day and you could barely stand upright on the mud far less drive around on it! Afternoon bit was far better than the morning - about half the folk there in the morning didn't do the afternoon. Price back then was £99 for the morning and £190 for the day.

Drive-it-all is absolutely fantastic IMO. Last year about 10 of us went there on a day organised by Tim B (thanks Tim) and had a blast. The cars are 'only' 1600cc toyota corolas, but the course is mostly shale and very slippery - so was plenty of fun. Instructors were ace too.
I'll be going again sometime - the Mintex challenge was the day we did - loads of driving, shame we broke so many of the cars though. heheh
