Default oil pump

i just wondered what the symptoms are of a faulty oil pump?

before my old engine died i lost about 1L of oil in around 5 weeks.

no obvious signs of a leak

any thoughts? as i dont want to replace my engine to find the pump has a problem or such like

Do you have nay gauges fitted?

Its a bit hard with the oil pump as from what Iv read on various forums, the oil light won`t come on on the dash untill you lose a hell of a lot of oil, which by that time the damage has been done. Try removing your undertray and see if there`s any leaks after driving or leaving it over night. You shouldnt be burning that much oil IMO.

I would recommended replacing the oil pump when you replace the engine or do any major work to it.
