Micronet have the '02 WRX for £17497, the STI for £21297 and the Prodrive STI for £22597, provided you're prepared to go to Europe to pick them up, or you can pick them up from the port of entry for £250.
Daft not to really - I get on well with my dealer, but not 5 grand's worth (the saving on the Prodrive STI I promised myself)

I hate to spoil things but having just spoke with Subaru, Im afraid to tell you that you wont be able to get the Prodrive STi, as a Parallel import.
Subaru Assure me that Prodive STi is only Available throught the Uk Dealer Network.

bug-eyed wonder,
I ordered a Civic Type R from them a month ago. Following my email confirming my intention to order I received paperwork within 48 hours, and also received prompt confirmation of my order once deposit was received. They also accept payment through their solicitors bank account. I don't have a confirmed delivery date yet, but I am not expecting this until a few weeks before the car is due.

Can I suggest you just try phoning around dealers?
Having spoken to some just before the MY01 came out I was advised that it should be possible to get a car for this figure should I provide proof of how cheaply I could import one myself from Europe (having been questioned as to why I imported my MY00, and explaining the near on £7k saving I made)
I don't know if this sort of discount is still available to dealers, but would assume so.

Robertio, i had intended buying a non Prodrive STI from my dealer.
At the time i bought my WRX he was the most competitive in NI, however now that i fancy a change he's charging the full £26K for the STI and only offering £16K part ex. That's why i'm certainly tempted to go down the import route, £4K ain't an insignificant amount.

If you could get a UK car from a UK dealer for £18K I would be amazed, even more so that no one on Scoobynet had ever posted about this. I'd need a bit more than someones say so to believe it was possible.

To answer the original question, there is a move by the EC to harmonise new car prices throughout Europe.
They want to remove block exemption (e.g. only selling through 'their' dealers ). From October European law will also change such that warranty work can be done outside the franchised dealer network.
Probably good news for us in the UK, but European manufacturers will be able to charge more for RHD models. Of course, no problem here for Japanese manufacturers
See April's CAR magazine, p50.
Cheers

and not just subaru, has anyone heard of hard evidence that generally all car prices are to fall an expected 15-20%. (more specifically at the end of this year apparently.
I've read this but don't know how much truth is in it. It is supposed to come about by supermarkets being allowed to import and sell cars at the shops - even have huge stock available.
I understand that if all prices drop 15-20% then the car you have will drop the same, but 15-20% on an older car is a lot less than on a newer one as people have found out already.
Quite like the idea of going weekend food shopping and coming back with a new scoob.
Any one able to advise us a little better?????
